1862 Greenbriar, Glendale
Verdugo Oaks Ranch
Nestled in the Verdugo Foothills at the head of Dead Horse Canyon in
Glendale's prestigious Rossmoyne area a small cabin was built in the
late 1920's. In 1948 the cabin was rebuilt and became Verdugo Oaks Ranch.
It was purchased in 1954 by Dr. Stan Phillips and his wife Jane, who
in 1960 remodeled the ranch to its present grandeur. Truly a country
ranch in the middle of the city, requiring a half mile drive down a
dirt road to reach this special location. The Phillips Family of five
lived the ranch life with wild life including deer, coyotes, rabbits,
bobcats, doves and quail adding to the feeling of remoteness from city
life. Because the property was so scenic, the Phillips family offered
the ranch to the community to use for many charitable and social events.
The last ranch in Glendale is a stunning sight. With nearly 60 years
of history the family has decided to pass this wonderful legacy along
to the next family to experience the delights of country living.
